2021 saw the world’s two major football competitions, Copa America and the UEFA Euros. Both the Euros and Copa America draw from all parts of the world with its massive following. Copa America is the oldest international football competition and is the third most-watched competition. Founded in 1916, the Copa determines the champion of South America (Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador).
The Euros consists of the senior men’s national teams from members of the Union of European Football Association (UEFA). Euros was founded in 1958.
Euros have many more teams participating, 24 Teams, unlike the Copa which has 10-12 Teams.
Which Team do you think would win if the best XI of Copa America faced off against the best XI of the EUFA Euro? Regardless of what you believe, both competitions have made history this year. We have seen the greatest player in the world, Lionel Messi and his Argentinian side win an international championship for the first time since 1993, beating the defending champions Brazil, by a score of 1-0 (Angel DiMaria). And we have also witnessed England cruise into the Euro Championship for the first time in 58 years, before losing out to the resilient Italian team in penalty shoot-out (3-2). We can certainly understand why this is called "The beautiful game".
